Here at FIT4MOM Asheville, we know the importance of having support and community while in all stages of motherhood. We strongly believe that every mother needs help in some form or fashion at any point in time. This is why our next Naked Ladies Party on October 4th (it's a clothing swap, mamas!) will be an event to support Babies Need Bottoms.
To reduce the financial burden that parents and caregivers experience, Babies Need Bottoms is a nonprofit diaper bank providing supplemental and emergency diapers to families in Buncombe, Haywood, Henderson, Madison, and Transylvania Counties.
We invite everyone to our Mama Meet-Ups, and this one is no exception. You don't have to be a "member" of FIT4MOM to attend. You simply need to RSVP here, show up with a pack (or 5) of diapers for Babies Need Bottoms, and hang out with other like-minded mamas for a few hours. Yes, kids are welcome as well! After the night, we will be taking all of the diaper donations to the diaper bank.
So why did we choose to support Babies Need Bottoms? Here are 5 reasons why we are and why you should support them as well.
Diapers are expensive (and necessary) for young children! Did you know diapers cost an average of $70-$80 a month per child?
Diapers are not covered by government assistance like WIC or food stamps. Diaper needs are especially pronounced and painful for low-income families.
Not having enough diapers to stay clean and dry puts children at risk for skin infections and other complications from sitting in wet or dirty diapers. And for parents, it causes stress and worries about not meeting their babies’ needs.
Babies Need Bottoms is the ONLY diaper bank in WNC. They partner with community organizations who help families who are struggling with diaper need. They also provide emergency assistance to families in acute crisis. Plus, they always have more requests for diapers than they have to give.
Supporting Babies Need Bottoms is a straightforward, tangible and yet very meaningful way to support mamas and babies directly in our community. Let's help them keep local babies dry, healthy and happy.
